The real purpose of this blog is not make money out of it, I really enjoy writing on it and sharing what I know, but I can’t lie saying I wouldn’t love to make a living out of it. This lead me to think that there are many people looking to earn enough money to live with their blogs, people that just write for the money and will probably not think on people, just money, so I needed some reasons to justify why you would want me to live of my blog.

1. Better Content: as I wouldn’t be working as a SEO or SMM, I would be able to tell everything I know about any subject and that wouldn’t be wrong for me as I wouldn’t need that knowledge. I would also be able to spend more time writing each article as I would have all the time of the world just for writing.
2. More Content: I just said this, but if I had much more time I would also be able to write much more articles about more subjects, and you would be getting much more quality content in one day.
3. Free: I wouldn’t have to charge for content as some people do, I would already be getting enough money from blogging, so I wouldn’t need you to pay for me to blog.
4. More Knowledge: if I didn’t have to work, I would have much more time, I could use that time for experimenting new things at Search Engines and Social Networks, what would make me have much more knowledge which I would also share on this blog.
5. Help Others: this is something I always wanted to do, help other people on anything I could help, even helping charitys with their SEO. Again, I wouldn’t mind to doing this as I wouldn’t be making a living of working as a SEO.
6. Prizes: if I made a living of blogging, it would mean I had many subscribers and I would really love to give them something for following me and what I write. I would also love to give something to the people that is following me today, but I wouldn’t be able to give them a valuable prize. If i made a live blogging, I would have enough money to spend on my subscribers each month to giveaway a prize.
7. Networking: today you are probably not even interested in knowing who I am, but if I made a living out of blogging, it would mean I am someone you would probably like to meet. As I would have more time, this would be something I would be really happy to do.

How you can help me make a living of blogging?

• By Promoting my Blog: more visitors and more subscribers would mean more people interested in putting money into this blog, what would help me make a living of blogging.
• By Getting Advertisers for my Blog: you don’t need much explanation on this one :P
• By Getting People interested in a review at my Blog: again, I think this one explains itself.

Once again, let me clarify, I am not looking to make a living out of this blog (it is not the objective of it), but it would be great if it was possible.

The idea of writing this came to my mind after telling DaveR why I wasn’t going via Twitter

1. Travel: in case you haven’t read the about me page, let me tell you I live in Argentina (South America) so if I wanted to go to Santa Clara I would have to pay extra U$2000 for the flight ticket.
2. Passport: some years have passed since I last traveled by plane, so my passport expired, I would have to renew it and it takes at least 30 days to do so (SMX West is in 10 days).
3. VISA: to travel to the United States I would have to get a VISA for non immigrants, it would take them more than 10 days to process it and give it to me.
4. Money: in Argentina, U$1 dollar equals AR$3 (argentinian pesos) approximately, what is great if you are coming to Argentina as everything would be cheaper for you, but not noce if I want to go to the US as everything would be 3x more expensive. I would also have to pay the full price for the entry ticket (U$1,595).
5. New: I am pretty new to the Search Engine Marketing world in English, I have been blogging nearly all my life in spanish, so I think that going to a future SMX would be much better than doing it now as I don’t know many people and nobody will probably know who I am.
6. University: it would have started by that moment and I don’t want to lose my first days on it, anyway this is something that wouldn’t matter that much.
7. English: my first language is Spanish, I have been learning English for some years now, but it is far from being perfect, this is something that could cause me losing some things at the SMX. This wouldn’t really matter that much for me, but it is another reason.
8. Permission: I would need my parent’s permission in order to get out of the country as I am not 21 years old yet. This is not a problem but is just an extra step I would have to take in order to go to SMX West.

Not everything is negative, here are some reasons why I would be ne able to go to the SMX:

1. Work: I am not working for anyone, so I wouldn’t have to leave work for some days.
2. I love SMX: I only went to one, SMX Buenos Aires but really loved it.
3. Networking: not knowing anybody would make me know some new people.
4. Learning: you always learn something new, maybe it is just one stupid and small thing, but it is actually something new you didn’t know.
5. Free Wifi: well maybe not really free, but it is wifi after all :P
6. Going to the US: I really love travelling to the US, so by going to SMX West I would also be able to go to some other places on the US.

When I first started this blog I used to write in english, 1 year after that moment I deleted it and started writing in spanish, what helped me achieving some objectives for the year 2007. As we are on the year 2008 I have new objectives and to make them come true I need a blog in english, that is why I am deleting my old blog in spanish (will try to put it up somewhere else) and re-starting in english.

In this “new” blog I will continue to write about web marketing techniques, mainly covering Social Media Optimization, Social Media Marketing and Search Engine Optimization. I really needed the blog to be in english to talk about social media marketing tactics as I really want to (wasn’t ok to write about smm in spanish about english social media sites).
